![]() Hell, the $649 HP Reverb (the top-tier Windows MR headset at the moment) costs more than either the Quest or Rift S, and provides a lesser experience. It’s a lesser experience though, and given how much prices have come down for the Oculus Quest and Rift S, the Windows MR headsets no longer seem like as much of a bargain. This works fine if you’re holding your hand out where the cameras can see, but the tracking is easily broken by any number of everyday actions: Hand behind your head, hands down at your sides, and so on.Ĭan you deal with it? Sure, and if it’s your first VR experience you probably won’t know any better. All of the Windows MR headsets are restricted to two front-facing cameras for tracking. Windows MR was the first platform to mount cameras on the headset to track both the player’s position and the controllers.īeing first out of the gate has drawbacks though. Just know that you’re signing up for a compromised experience. ![]() They are really cheap though, which might make you wonder: Is this a good place to get into VR? If it’s your only option, sure, go for it. The consumer-focused Windows Mixed Reality headsets by companies like Acer, Dell, and HP don’t really do anything more than the rest of the competition. I know, it’s confusing, but Microsoft’s AR tech is still confined to HoloLens, which targets enterprise use cases. Or that’s how Microsoft pitched it, at least.īut really, all of the “MR” headsets are just VR headsets. Combine virtual reality (VR) with augmented reality (AR) and you get…Mixed Reality, or MR. What about Windows Mixed Reality?Ī few years ago Microsoft decided it was also going to get into VR-or rather, into all of the Rs. You might be able to get in on-the-cheap if you’re lucky. A lot of people are dumping their old Vive and Rift hardware to upgrade to the Quest, Rift S, and Index. Again, I find it hard to recommend the Rift S personally, but that’s only in comparison to its more capable cousin.Īnd now’s your chance, really. That said, if you’re really, absolutely, totally certain you’ll never want to use your VR headset away from your PC? Oculus’s Rift S is a perfectly serviceable fallback. ![]() Even before Link, I would’ve probably recommended Quest to most people over one of the tethered headsets. But it’s good enough, and you’re essentially getting two headsets for the price of one. Sure, there’s some image compression when you use Link, and Quest’s tracking isn’t quite as good as Oculus’s tethered alternative, the Oculus Rift S. The Quest/Link combo feels like magic though, enabling you to play top-tier VR games like Half-Life: Alyx and Lone Echo (and my favorite Google Earth VR) when you have a PC handy, and then return to your carefree wireless life when you’re done. We think Fulldive’s best suited to those times when you want to watch something but you don’t know what you want to watch: because it draws from multiple sources as well as its own users, it’s a good way to stumble on interesting VR content. And as an added benefit, the Oculus Link Cable allows you to turn Quest into a full-fledged PC headset to rival the Oculus Rift. The latter’s a gimmick rather than anything useful: if you’ve ever tried using the web browser on a PlayStation you’ll know exactly what we’re talking about. It also includes a VR video player that you can use to pretend your own videos are being shown in a movie theater, with similar features for your photo library and internet browsing. ![]() The main draw here is the massive library of 360-degree videos, but it’s a decent front-end for a wide range of other content providers such as YouTube. Designed for Google Cardboard, Fulldive VR describes itself as a “social all-in-one VR platform”: it’s effectively an attempt to make a specific YouTube for VR content, with all content uploaded by users and available for sharing, commenting on and interacting with.

Everyone in your household or who interacts with your dog should follow the same rules. Be consistent with your training methods and expectations. Here are some key points to keep in mind: Leash training requires consistency and patience. Having both dogs on the leash is a safe way to make new introductions and closely observe both animals' behavior for signs of stress. Encourage socialization during walks by allowing your pup to interact with other dogs. You can do this easily by going for a walk in a populated area or busy park. Gradually introduce distractions, such as other dogs, people or interesting scents. Use a phrase to remind your dog to walk by your side, like “heel," which is one of the five basic dog commands all dog owners should use. ![]() Focus on short, successful walks, gradually increasing the duration and complexity of your routes. Continue using positive reinforcement techniques, and reward your dog for walking by your side and following your lead. Choose a quiet, low-distraction location for your first outdoor training sessions. Once your dog is comfortable with the leash indoors, it's time to move to the great outdoors. Gradually increase the duration of indoor training sessions to help your dog build a positive association with the leash and walking by your side. Again, use treats and positive reinforcement to reward them for staying close. Then begin walking around your home, encouraging your dog to walk beside you. This helps your dog get used to the sensation of the leash. Attach the leash to the collar or harness and let it drag on the floor. Now it's time to practice indoors with a loose leash. Reward and praise them for their cooperation. Let your dog wear the collar or harness indoors to adjust to the feeling. Choose one that fits well without being too tight or too loose. Step 2: Introduction to the collar or harnessīefore attaching the leash, your dog needs to get used to wearing a collar or harness. Then, use treats and praise to create a positive association with the leash. Let your dog examine and sniff the leash to become comfortable with it. He's certainly done a really admirable job in outreach and keeping his shares afloat with his shareholders. If he's not CEO, what happens to this company and stock?ĪLICIA REESE: Well, it certainly depends on if his successor would be as active as he is in outreach to his shareholders. So any of those high quality theaters would surely add to EBITDA and, you know, increase valuation.īRIAN SOZZI: Well, speaking of valuation, Alicia, I think a lot of folks would agree that why the stock trades where it is because of Adam Aron and his ability to go out there and sell the sizzle, his social media presence. You know, you can't have a really expensive theater that's not bringing in a lot of attendance. Having premium large format screens, you know, updated amenities in the theaters, anything that would add to EBITDA. And then, you know, buying more high quality theaters as much as they can. Owning more high quality theaters, closing any underperforming theaters as those leases come up for renegotiation. JULIE HYMAN: Alicia, would it make sense for AMC or Cinemark, for that matter, to buy up more theaters? I mean, in this business, is bigger better? Is owning more theaters better for the company's financials?ĪLICIA REESE: Not necessarily on its face. And then you know, after they did reopen, AMC and Cinemark have retained a lot of those market share gains. I'd say, if anything, AMC, and Cinemark, and the like, they gained market share on Regal throughout the pandemic quite a bit, because Regal took a lot longer to reopen their theaters compared to AMC and Cinemark. I don't cover Cineworld so I'm not as familiar with their financials, as I am with AMC's or, you know, other companies in the space.īut I would say that it's not a reflection on AMC or any of the other players in the space. So I think their bankruptcy could have something to do with trying to get out of that payment to Cineplex, just in order to increase liquidity. You know, putting in a bid for Cineplex right before the pandemic hit and then they're not able to follow through with that acquisition. That was very unfortunate timing for Cineworld. They also have that overhang from the payment that they are supposed to pay Cineplex for that deal not going through. You know, they have- they had a lot of debt. I don't think- I think the Cineworld issue is very company specific. I think that does start to normalize next year.īRIAN SOZZI: Alicia, what's the impact to AMC from Cineworld?ĪLICIA REESE: I don't think there's much at all. ![]() And that's a function of, you know, production delays during the pandemic still hitting the release slate. ![]() The delta is that the volume is just not there yet. I think they're, you know, bringing "Avatar" back to the movie theaters ahead of the Q4 new "Avatar" release. ![]() There's about a month and a half of- you know, it's pretty light. Well, I think we're- right now, we're going through a bit of a lull in the box office release slate. But with the APE shares, they are in a position to repay a significant portion, if not all, of their debt.īRAD SMITH: Is there any movie release schedule that could save or be- or provide some type of bullish sentiment or wave of bullish sentiment for AMC or any of the movie operators right now?ĪLICIA REESE: Sure. They're not in a position to do that on shares. So that $22 price target we have on Cinemark could be in line with AMC should they, you know, buy back a lot of shares, repay their debt. By comparison, we have Cinemark who has roughly similar EBITDA, but they have a fraction of the shares outstanding and less than half the debt. I don't know that as long as the retail shareholders are involved that it will go back to its fundamental value, where it should be fundamentally valued. But with all the retail interest in the shares, is there any chance of it actually coming closer to its fair value?ĪLICIA REESE: Sure. It's basically just that the shares are dramatically overvalued. What's striking to me, as I read through your note on this, is it's not as though you're saying this is a terrible company that's gonna go under, like its UK competitor Cineworld. You've got an underperform on the shares and a price target of $2.00.
